Module 2

2. Network Access (20%)

VLANs: Configuring and verifying VLANs, trunk ports (802.1Q), and native VLANs.

Switching Protocols: Layer 2 discovery (CDP, LLDP), EtherChannel (LACP), and Rapid PVST+ Spanning Tree operations.

Wireless Access: Cisco Wireless Architectures, AP modes, and managing WLC/AP connections (Telnet, SSH, HTTP/HTTPS).

4. IP Services (10%)

Network Protocols: Configuring and verifying NAT (Static/Dynamic/PAT), NTP, DHCP (Client/Relay), and DNS.

Management & Monitoring: Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Syslog features.

Quality of Service (QoS): Per-hop behavior (PHB), classification, marking, queuing, and congestion management.

Module 1

1.Network Fundamentals (20%)

Core Components: Roles and functions of routers, Layer 2/3 switches, next-generation firewalls (NGFW), IPS, access points, and controllers (WLC, DNA Center).

Architectures: Two-tier, three-tier, spine-leaf, WAN, SOHO, and on-premises vs. cloud.

Physical Layer: Cabling types (fiber, copper), PoE, and troubleshooting interface issues (collisions, errors).

Addressing: IPv4/IPv6 subnetting, private addressing, and address types (Unicast, Multicast, Anycast).

Basic Principles: TCP vs. UDP, wireless principles (SSID, RF, encryption), and virtualization fundamentals (containers, VRFs).

3. IP Connectivity (25%)

Routing Tables: Interpreting components like prefix, network mask, next hop, administrative distance, and metric.

Forwarding Decisions: Longest prefix match and default route behavior.

Static & Dynamic Routing: IPv4/IPv6 static routing and configuration of single-area OSPFv2.

Redundancy: Concepts of First Hop Redundancy Protocols (FHRP) like HSRP.

6. Automation and Programmability (10%)

SDN Architectures: Controller-based vs. traditional networks, separation of control/data planes, and North-bound/South-bound APIs.

Tools: Characteristics of REST-based APIs and configuration management tools (Ansible and Terraform have largely replaced Puppet/Chef in the latest updates).

Modern Technologies (v1.1 Updates):

Generative AI: Impact of AI on network management and predictive maintenance.

Cloud Management: Cloud-managed network device access.

Machine Learning: Fundamentals for network operations.

5. Security Fundamentals (15%)

Threat Defense: Key security concepts (vulnerabilities, exploits) and security program elements (user training, physical security).

Access Control: Local passwords, AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting), and Access Control Lists (ACLs).

Layer 2 Security: DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection (DAI), and Port Security.

Wireless & VPN: WPA/WPA2/WPA3 protocols and IPsec/site-to-site VPN basics.
